This event will be hosted at the home of Scott Gowrie, member of the Advocacy & Education Committee and TVCRI Board. Come hang out with Circle of Pride folks for a relaxed legislative letter writing afternoon focused on issues impacting older adults in Rhode Island.
We’ll spend some time learning about five current bills being discussed at the State House, then write letters to House Committees and Senators encouraging their support. No experience needed at all — we’ll have sample letters, bill summaries, and plenty of guidance to make it easy.
What we’ll have covered:
- Sample letters and short bill overviews
- Step-by-step support (you won’t be on your own)
- Envelopes, stamps, and snacks
- A laidback, welcoming space to connect and take action together
- Refreshments!
Some letters will be handwritten and others may be emailed, so if you can, please bring a fully charged laptop. If not, no worries — we’ll have options (handwritten included).
All are welcome! This event is part of the Advocacy & Education Committee work of The Village Common of Rhode Island, in partnership with the Brown University Policy in Action Program, and is timed to line up with active legislative conversations. We hope you’ll join us for an easy, meaningful way to connect, learn, and take action together.
